BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 28 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam and other members of the royal family gracing the Yayasan Hari Raya Celebration is a very meaningful and special gift.

This was highlighted in the Sembah Alu-Aluan of Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as the Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors at the 17th Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Hari Raya celebration yesterday.

Each year, Yayasan gathers participants from diverse backgrounds who have contributed towards the development and well-being of the religion, nation and country.

With the consent of His Majesty, Yayasan this year invited frontline personnel and agencies involved in the battle against the Covid-19 outbreak to show appreciation for their contribution and services provided.

Among them were medical officers involved in dealing with Covid-19 patients, public health officials who worked to detect and trace patient contacts to curb the spread of the epidemic, officials from various agencies who contributed to addressing the spread of the Covid-19, and 850 volunteers who assisted in the efforts.

“The selection is appropriate to express the gratitude on the nation’s success in curbing the outbreak for over a year, ” said the minister.

“The country continues to see positive developments in tackling the Covid-19 impact that enable the de-escalation of several restrictions, and enable activities in all sectors to run in accordance with the new norm.

“These are all a blessing from Allah the Almighty, and also the agility and firmness of the wise leadership of His Majesty and His Majesty’s Government, which is the main pillar of the nation’s success in controlling the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak, as well as the solid cooperation of all people in the country.

“All people are very grateful for the deep concern and wise leadership of His Majesty in particular, in the effort to control the spread of the Covid-19, and the various donations and assistance through Yayasan, in caring for the people of Brunei Darussalam.”

The minister said the theme for this year’s celebration was in line with that of the Knowledge Convention 2020, relevant to the efforts and support from all parties in upholding the commands of His Majesty to curb the Covid-19 epidemic, and the implementation of various initiatives, undertaken in parallel to and in conjunction with the whole-of-government and whole-of-nation approaches, to address the impacts of the epidemic, which still threaten the world, to this day. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
