Brunei to launch new law to protect personal data


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 23 (Xinhua): Brunei's Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) is working on a new law to protect individuals' personal data, which will apply to the private sector in the sultanate, covering both commercial and non-commercial organisations.

According to the Borneo Bulletin daily on Saturday, AITI as the Interim Data Office is mulling over the new data protection law, which is designed to help businesses ensure that personal data is secure and properly protected.
