JAKARTA, May 16 (Jakarta Post/ANN): Sumatra, Indonesia’s second-most populous island, has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases in May, forcing government officials to quickly shift their attention away from Java provinces, which are currently the country’s Covid-19 epicentres.
National Covid-19 task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito said new cases in Sumatra had risen “significantly” by 27.22 per cent this month from January, while at the same time cases in Java had decreased by 11.06 per cent.
