PHNOM PENH, May 15 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration on May 15 announced a first-dose novel-coronavirus vaccination campaign for Boeung Keng Kang and Sen Sok districts from May 18-31, and a follow-up second-shot drive from June 1-15.

Twenty vaccination sites have been set up in a combined 13 communes across both districts – mostly at schools and health centres, according to the announcement signed by municipal governor Khuong Sreng.

It called on residents of the two districts to avoid travelling to vaccination sites without having received a patient invitation letter from local authorities.

Sreng stressed that the greater vaccination effort would pull out all the stops to ensure that all Phnom Penh resident aged 18 and over have received at least one dose of a coronavirus jab by end-June.

The governor called on the general public to abide by the standard health recommendations to reduce exposure to Covid-19, such as wearing masks, keeping personal distance and not flocking en masse to get jabs.

Ith Sarath – Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Joint Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces – who oversees the campaign in Phnom Penh, on May 12 said military medics had inoculated about 550,000 people of the nearly 800,000 aged 18 and over in the six of the capital’s 14 districts that contained red zones in the revised colour-coded map published on May 5.

Those districts are Prampi Makara, Tuol Kork, Meanchey, Russey Keo, Por Sen Chey and Chbar Ampov. - Phnom Penh Post/ANN
