BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 4 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The 13th Joint Working Group Meeting (JWG) between the Brunei’s Ministry of Education and Singapore’s Ministry of Education was held virtually this year.
The meeting provides a platform for both ministries to share recent and ongoing education initiatives and development as well as sharing best practices and approaches in education.
In addition to this, the meeting also discusses collaborative educational programmes and activities between the two countries.
Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati Haji Tajuddin and Permanent Secretary (Education) at the Ministry of Education, Singapore Lai Chung Han co-chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam briefed its Singaporean counterpart on recent education developments concerning digital literacy while Singapore’s Ministry of Education shared its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital literacy and integrate blended learning as a regular feature of the schooling experience.
Both ministries also had the opportunity to talk about the governance of their higher education institutions/institutes of higher learning.
Existing collaborations were reviewed and progress of programmes and activities under the joint working group initiatives were reported at the meeting such as the school twinning programmes between primary and secondary schools of both countries, sharing session of Singapore’s specialist career track and Singapore’s participation in the School Leaders’ Convention in Brunei.
Acting Director General of Education Dr Hazri Haji Kifle, heads of divisions, centres and units and senior officers were also present. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
