SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): The Singapore economy grew by 0.2 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the first quarter of 2021, a turnaround from the 2.4 per cent contraction recorded in the previous quarter, according to advance estimates released by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) on Wednesday (April 14).
This was the economy's first quarterly growth since the fourth quarter of 2019, before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
