VIENTIANE (Xinhua): The maternal death rate dropped by 78 per cent between 1990 and 2015 in Laos, but the number is still high at 185 maternal deaths per 100,000, according to United Nations estimates.
Most maternal deaths in Laos result from complications during and following pregnancy and childbirth.
