North China port returns half million tonnes of illegal solid waste

TIANJIN, March 29 (Xinhua): A record 498,000 tonnes of pyrite cinder have been returned overseas, the largest amount of smuggled solid waste in China, according to local customs in north China's Tianjin Municipality.

The smuggled waste was seized, with four suspects nabbed, as part of a nationwide crackdown launched in June 2020.
