JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/ANN): The world is watching helplessly as the human tragedy unfolds in Myanmar since the Feb 1 military takeover. More than 50 people have died since then as soldiers use their full force to put down the daily peaceful protests on the streets of Yangon.

Politicians, activists and journalists have been arrested to muzzle opposition and critical voices against the military generals who annulled the results of the November democratic elections, won overwhelmingly by the National League for Democracy (NLD).
