Macau records first positive virus case since June

HONG KONG (China Daily/ANN): Macau reported its first coronavirus case since June on Friday (Jan 22).

The 43-year-old woman is the 47th recorded patient.

The asymptomatic patient is a Macau resident who was in Dubai and travelled to Japan via Singapore before returning to the city, the government said in a statement.

The last case to be recorded in Macau was on June 26,2020 -- 209 days ago.

The woman landed in Macau on Thursday night and subsequently tested positive for the virus. She was among 109 Macau residents flying back to the city on two Air Macau flights from Tokyo.

Eight people classfied as her close contacts were quarantined. Also, her co-passengers were sent to a hotel to be quarantined for 21 days.- China Daily/Asia News Network
