Australia pledges millions to back pandemic fight


AUSTRALIAN Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced a series of financial packages to support Asean countries with post-Covid-19 economic recovery at the second Asean-Australia biennial summit.

These include A$21mil (RM63mil) for the Asean Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases launched on Thursday, A$1mil (RM3mil) for the Asean Covid-19 Respond Fund and A$70mil (RM210mil) for the recovery of South-East Asia’s maritime connectivity, its sustainable development sectors and its economic co-operation.
