Young students of the fine arts learning centre Atelier Huifong Ng will be showcasing their talents in the upcoming “Our Abode of Peace, Brunei Darussalam” art exhibition in the capital.
The one-day event will feature 90 paintings by the participating students aged six to 14 years.
The genres cover portraiture, abstract, still life, animals, scenery and free expression, while the media include pastel, acrylic, charcoal, pencil and mixed media.
One of the main highlights is a portrait of Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, painted by Pengiran Seti Amanina Wafiqah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah.
According to the centre’s founder Hui Fong, the centre hopes that through painting, students are encouraged to celebrate artistic individuality and empowered to practise creative problem-solving, while nurturing their patience in art creation.
“Painting fosters planning, hard work, delayed gratification and purposeful dedication to art.
“These are lifelong skills that are needed when developing confident, well-rounded individuals who will contribute to a better future,” she said. — Borneo Bulletin/ANN
