BERLIN (Xinhua): Nine of the top ten applicants for patents in batteries and other electricity storage technologies in the period from 2000 to 2018 were Asian companies, according to a study published by the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich and the International Energy Agency (IEA) on Tuesday.
During this period, patenting activity for electricity storage grew "much faster" than overall patenting activity, the study found. In 2018, more than 7,000 international patent families (IPFs) were registered in the field of electricity storage, compared to just around 1,000 twenty years ago.
