MANILA (Xinhua): The number of Covid-19 cases in the Philippines surged to 173,774 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 4,650 new cases on Wednesday (Aug 19).

The DOH said that the number of recoveries rose to 113,481 after it reported 716 more patients have survived the disease.
