BEIJING (China Daily/ANN): None of the Chinese journalists in the United States had received a reply from the United States on their visa extension applications as of press time on Thursday (Aug 6), the day their visas were due to expire, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.

"China will be compelled to make necessary and legitimate reactions if the US is bent on going down the wrong path and doubles down on its mistakes," Wang told reporters at a news briefing in Beijing on Thursday.
