MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN): Network giant ABS-CBN will cease operating some of its businesses and start retrenching workers by the end of August, as its remains without a franchise to operate its free television and radio broadcasts.

In a statement on Wednesday (July 15), ABS-CBN said that the retrenchment programme is the last resort to ensure that the rest of their workers still get employed, as they continue limited operations online and through other avenues.
