BANGKOK (Xinhua): Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives said on Monday (June 29) that it aims to export poultry and pork meat to China during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Ministry also said that in order to help farmers hit by the Covid-19 outbreak, the ministry will roll out a programme to train farmers how to sell their meat via the e-commerce platforms.
China had already certified 15 poultry processing factories in Thailand, said Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on.
"Currently, there are 22 poultry processing factories that are able to export poultry meat to China," the minister said,"We aim to export poultry meat to China estimated over 12 billion baht (US$388.47 million) this year."
He also said that China and Vietnam have expressed interests in buying pork from Thailand.
"I told the two countries that Thailand is one of the few countries that is able to control the African Swine Fever (ASF) epidemic," said Chalermchai. - Xinhua
