The latest cases included eight Cambodians aged between 23 and 26 years old, and a 22-year-old Indonesian man, the statement said, adding that they all travelled to Cambodia from Indonesia via a direct flight on Thursday.
"Their samples had been taken for lab tests at the Pasteur Institute of Cambodia, and the testing results showed (on Friday) that they were positive for the Covid-19," Health Ministry's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said.
"Currently, the nine new patients are undergoing treatment at isolation wards in the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh," she added.
Vandine said other 31 passengers including 16 Cambodians, 14 Indonesians and one Vietnamese have been put under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at various quarantine centers.
The South-East Asian country has so far recorded a total of 139 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 129 patients cured and 10 remained hospitalised, she said. Enditem
