China to forgive interest-free loans to African countries

BEIJING (China Daily/ANN): Within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China will cancel the debt of relevant African countries in the form of interest-free government loans that are due to mature by the end of 2020, said Chinese President Xi Jingping.

Xi made the announcement in his keynote speech at the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against Covid-19 held via video link on Wednesday (June 17).
