Philippines puts termination of US troop deal on hold

MANILA (Xinhua): The Philippines has suspended for six months its termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the United States, Philippine Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin said on Tuesday (June 2).

In a diplomatic note to the US embassy dated June 1, Locsin said that the suspension is being made "in light of political and other developments in the region."
