Vietnam's international arrivals halved


Vietnam, which hosted a record number of over 18 million international arrivals last year, has set a target of welcoming 20.5 million foreign visitors this year. - AFP

HANOI (Xinhua): Vietnam hosted more than 3.7 million international arrivals in the first five months this year, plunging 48.8 per ent against the same period last year, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on Monday.

Between January and May, over 2.7 million foreign visitors to Vietnam were from Asia, down 51.4 per ent, 665,600 from Europe, down 35.7 per cent. Visitors from the United States, Australia and Africa also went down about 40 per cent.
