SINGAPORE/JAKARTA: Thousands of Indonesian palm oil workers who are in lockdown on plantations due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak will have to stay put for Aidilfitri celebrations this weekend, rather than go home to celebrate the end of Ramadan with their families.
Fearing a spike in new Covid-19 cases, the Singaporean and Indonesian authorities have sought to discourage people from travelling for the festival this year, which usually sees workers from across the archipelago return to their hometowns.
