SUBANG JAYA: Police are asking Sungai Besar Umno division chief and Malay Muslim NGOs coalition president Datuk Jamal Yunus to call off his plans to hold a rally in Ampang on Sunday.

Selangor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said anyone who wanted to hold a rally must do so according to the law.

“In this case, he plans on having a rally on Sunday but he has not informed the police there about it.

“It is already Wednesday. He needs to inform us 10 days before holding the rally and he has not done so,” he told reporters after launching the USJ21 police beat base yesterday.

He said Jamal had lodged a police report at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters claiming he was slandered on social media.

“We will investigate his allegations.

“On the rally, I have instructed the police there to call him in to have his statement recorded and to advise him against carrying out his plan.

“Police in Selangor will take action if we find that laws have been broken,” he said.
