KUALA LUMPUR: The differing political ideology of any foreigner is not a reason for them being denied entry into Malaysia, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Home Minister denied that some foreigners were stopped from entering Malaysia because of differences in opinion but said action will be taken if there were "elements of negativity".
Asked to state the Ministry's stand on foreign activists who want to enter the country, he said; "We will have to check on a case-to-case basis."
Dr Ahmad Zahid said he would have to check with the Immigration director-general on the case of Hong Kong student activist Joshua Wong who was barred from entering the country.
Wong, 18, was stopped from entering Malaysia at Penang Airport on Tuesday.
He was scheduled to attend a forum titled 'The Uprising of Youth and New Social Activism in Singapore and Hong Kong' in Penang on Tuesday night.
