Deputy Polis Chief Malacca Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Shahrizan Che Mat Din

PONTIAN: The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has received almost 2.8 million income tax return forms as of Wednesday.

“Up to May 13, it has received 2,760,930 forms of various categories through e-filing submission,” said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan.

This was a 9.8% increase compared with the same period last year, he added.

Ahmad said that the e-filing method had been the main channel for people to submit their income tax forms.

“People prefer using e-filing as it is hassle-free and keeps an online record of the submission made, which can be accessed by the taxpayers at any time,” he told a press conference after launching the Pontian Revenue Service Centre (RSC) yesterday.

Ahmad also said that 32 RSCs had been set up nationwide to support the operations of the 36 IRB main branches in the country.
