Semenyih crash: Pilot of another chopper saw explosion, say police

SEMENYIH: Police will interview the pilot of another helicopter which was flying about 11km from the one that crashed in Semenyih on Saturday.

Selangor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the pilot of the helicopter had informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Subang of seeing the AS365 Dauphin 2 explode in mid-air at about 5pm.

He said the helicopter was carrying passengers from Johor Baru to Gombak.

"It has been established, yes, there was another helicopter in the area during the incident.

"They happened to be in the same area when the helicopter crashed. It flew about 11km away from the crashed helicopter.

"We have identified the pilot and we have called him to give a statement on what he saw," SDCP Abdul Samah told reporters at the crash site area, Sunday night.

The helicopter, carrying Rompin MP Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis, the Prime Minister's principal private secretary, Datuk Azlin Alias, businessman Datuk Robert Tan, pilot Capt Clifford Fournier; company assistant Aidiana Baizieva and bodyguard Mohd Razkan Seran, 32, crashed in Semenyih, just minutes away from Subang.
