Najib sues Harakahdaily for defamation

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is suing Harakahdaily portal over a defamatory article in relation to the 1MDB fund and Riza Aziz, who is the Prime Minister’s stepson.

Writer and managing director Dr Rosli Yaakop as well as editor-in-chief Taufek Yahya were named as defendants.

The suit was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court Registry via Messrs Hafarizam Wan @ Aisha Mubarak on Wednesday. 

It was served at the portal's office in Jalan Pahang on Friday morning. 

In Najib’s statement of claim, he alleged that Harakahdaily portal published an article entitled, Dana 1MDB biayai syarikat filem Riza Aziz (Bhg 2), containing defamatory words against him on Feb 19 this year.

Counsel Fahmi Adilah is acting for Najib who is suing in his personal capacity.
