PUTRAJAYA: The economic adjustment measures announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak does not affect underlying Budget 2015 principles which have been approved by the Parliament, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic).

The Deputy Prime Minister said the Budget 2015 tabled by Najib last October still stood.

"As the Finance Minister, he can make the adjustment as it does not involve any extra expenditure. It is an adjustment within the budget, which he can implement.

"I think it is just apt because these adjustment measures need to be taken immediately. It does not affect the budget principles approved by the Parliament," he told reporters after chairing the post-flood special committee meeting here Tuesday.

Muhyiddin also commended the Prime Minister's courage to openly table the country's current economic development and financial situation.

This, he said, showed Najib's firmness in taking immediate actions to face global economic challenges and the impact from falling oil prices.
