PETALING JAYA: The Muslim girls caught on stage hugging members of a K-Pop group during a show last weekend have been asked to come forward to help in the investigations.

Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) director Paimuzi Yahya said they could be slapped with a court order to compel them to come forward if they did not do so.

The case is being investigated under Section 29 of the Syariah Criminal Offence (Federal Territories) 1997 (Act 559) for indecent behaviour in public places.

“We have given the girls seven days to come forward,” he added.

He was responding to the incident during a show recently involving South Korean band B1A4, in which several tudung-clad girls were hugged by the group members.

A video clip has gone viral on social media showing the artistes hugging and kissing a few girls on stage during a performance in Kuala Lumpur.

Federal Territory PAS Ulama chief Azhar Yahya said youths were acting in such a degrading manner because they were exposed to a secular environment.

Meanwhile, the group’s agency representatives denied molest rumours and had said that the band acted out a drama scene parody with fans after receiving prior consent from the event winners.
