PETALING JAYA: A company director was brought to a magistrate’s court here over a recording of a man intimidating a woman and spitting on her car in a case that has gone viral on social media.

Khoo Kok Ann (pic), 58, pleaded not guilty to the charge of intimidating personal assistant (PA) Alisa Thean Wei Yun, 35, by using his car to block hers along the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong, heading towards Putrajaya, at around 8am on Nov 17.

Khoo, who resembles the man in the recording, also claimed trial to an accusation that he bent the wipers on Thean’s cars and spat on her windshield.

The wife of the director, who has been in remand for two days, was also present for the hearing.

Thean had recorded the incident on her smartphone and uploaded it on her Facebook page on Monday.

The video went viral instantly.

Khoo faces up to two years in prison and a fine for each charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 427 for mischief.

Asking for a RM10,000 bail for each charge, DPP Tan Gin Han pointed out that the case was of public interest and that it had been widely circulated on social media.

However, Khoo’s counsel, Geetha Thanigasalam, said he had no prior conviction, pleading for a lower bail of RM1,000.

Referring to another road bully case in Kuantan involving Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin, whose recording also went viral, magistrate Salamiah Salleh granted bail at RM5,000 for each charge with one surety.

She also fixed Dec 15 for mention.

In July, Siti Fairrah – also known as “Kiki” – was caught on video abusing an elderly man by hitting his vehicle with a steering lock and scolding him loudly after a minor accident involving her new car.

The video went viral before the wedding planner was charged.

After pleading guilty to causing mischief and damage, she was fined RM5,000 and ordered to undertake 240 hours of community work.
