SHAH ALAM: The foreign maids who were rescued from the clutches of a syndicate that used them as sex slaves were kept in a posh neighbourhood to avoid detection.
It is learnt that the foreign maids were placed in a gated and guarded residential area in Kota Kemuning, roughly 30km from Petaling Jaya.
A check by The Star revealed that the housing area was filled with bungalows and tightly guarded by mostly Nepali guards.
A security guard at the entrance leading into the area said visitors could only enter with permission from the residents.
The guard confirmed that policemen had been to the housing area several days ago.
“We are not sure why they were here,” he said when questioned at the security post of the housing area yesterday.
He added that they were unsure if police visited just one house or several houses in the area. The guard said one of the houses that was believed to be connected to the case was vacant after the police showed up.
Yesterday, though, he said the house was already occupied.
