MCA is trying to get an income tax exemption for Semangat Suwa Sdn Bhd, a company jointly owned by nine Chinese independent schools in Perak, in a bid to help those schools become self-sustainable.

MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said he has written a letter to Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, hoping the Ministry of Finance would allow a tax waiver for Semangat Suwa, which would be able to distibute more money to the respective Chinese independent schools.
