A GROUP of supportive parents who call themselves the Power Sport Parents Support Team (PSPST), has reached out to help three children in Klang attend taekwondo training.
The three are Kavynash Siva and Thinesh Suntharalingam, both Year 6 pupils of SK La Salle Klang, and Ishvardeep Kaur Hans, a Year 5 pupil of SK Convent 1 Klang.
The children, all of whom are interested in taekwondo, were chosen based on some basic criteria such as coming from a single-parent or low-income family and having parents who are committed to the cause.
They received their certificates and taekwondo uniforms from PSPST leaders Kim Dreyer and Ropathy Ramanathan recently.
Also present were Power Sport Taekwondo Martial Arts Academy founder and head instructor Master Leong Yong Wah and his wife, Yeap Swee Bee.
Both Leong and Yeap hold 7th Dan Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) black belts and are international referees with WTF (kyorugi and poomsae).
The children’s classes, grading, uniform and tournament fees at the taekwondo academy are supported by PSPST.
The parents, who personally attended the screening to choose the qualified three, also provide moral support when the children take part in matches, support the trainers during normal training and share photos and videos online.
