KUCHING: A group of ex-Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) soldiers has contributed a commemorative plaque to Sarawak’s Heroes Memorial Park here.
The plaque is the first from any of the Allies of World War II nations with soldiers who served in Borneo. The Australian SAS was deployed to Sarawak, starting at a makeshift camp in Matang, in 1965, helping Sarawak defend itself against the “Confrontation” threat.
