Unesco World Heritage site Valparaiso under threat of development

Plans to build a shopping mall in the centre of town in Valparaiso, Chile, have some folks fearing for the city’s architectural charms. 

With its colourful hillside homes overlooking the Pacific and winding stairways, the Chilean port city of Valparaiso was named a Unesco World Heritage site just over a decade ago.
