Lovers of the world’s most famous playwright take note: This year marks the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth, a milestone that will be feted with candlelit plays and luxury tours across Britain.

To kickstart the year, the newly opened Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London is staging plays performed by candlelight. For the full effect, get a standing ticket (£10/RM54) and experience the play as spectators did in the 16th century.
