"Let me Google that for you" is one of the Internet's oldest and most famous jokes.

We've all had the experience of someone asking a question that could easily be answered with a Google search. There's even a website, LMGTFY.com, where you can create a short animation of a Google query and then send it to your less-than-resourceful friend.

Now there may be a new, slightly less snarky way to give someone the hint: Google looks to be testing a new version of its app that includes a share button, so that you can quickly share a Google search.

According to the tech blog 9to5Google, the new function is currently being tested in a beta version of the new Google app.

As it stands now, when you share a search, it only shares the query in the search box, and not the search results – which is a shame, as it may be useful to be able to share the exact results as well.

Depending on what device your are using, it will either redirect you to the Google app or to your browser. – dpa
