Local authorised Apple retailers have dropped the price of the older AirPods after Apple introduced its new and (slightly) improved second generation wireless earbuds.

The new AirPods are priced at RM699, while the 1st generation originally went for RM649.

However, Apple authorised retailers Machines and Switch have cut RM50 off the price of the 1st gen Airpods, lowering them to RM599.

On Wednesday night, Apple announced its 2nd generation AirPods will feature 50% more talk time, hands-free Siri, and a wireless charging case to go with it.

Apple Malaysia’s website lists three pricing options: RM879 for a pair that comes in a case with wireless charging capabilities, RM699 for a pair with a normal (wired) charging case and RM439 just for the wireless charging case.

The AirPod 2’s similar design and lack of new features drew criticism online that the earbuds were underwhelming and the wireless charging case too expensive.
