An action role-playing game adventure set in the Dragon Ball Z universe is to be revealed at the Jan 26 world finals for associated fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Dragon Ball FighterZ, the latest and perhaps greatest video game adaptation of its popular cartoon and comic book source, is the subject of a World Tour competition that draws to a close on Jan 26.
It's then that a mystery Project Z, set within the anime's sequel Dragon Ball Z, is to be detailed in some capacity.
Having it described as an "action RPG" invites comparisons to Dragon Ball Xenoverse (2015) and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (2017), both of which were combat-oriented role-playing adventures, and the second also numbering among the better Dragon Ball adaptations.
In addition, Japanese magazine Weekly Shonen Jump has a feature on the same Dragon Ball Game Project Z, through its sub-brand V-Jump, which outlines the title as a "transcending Z-class game showing a world of Dragon Ball Z like we've never seen before" (per SiliconEra).
Japanese publisher and developer Bandai Namco oversees the current crop of Dragon Ball games as well as those relating to fellow anime franchise adaptations Naruto, One Piece, and My Hero One's Justice, among others.
It has a new fighting game, Jump Force, starring characters from across the Weekly Shonen Jump comic strip roster, due the week of Feb 14 this year.
The Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour is being streamed on Twitch through twitch.tv/dragonballfighterz, with a schedule obtainable through dbfzworldtour.com. Jan 26's Finals event takes place at The Majestic Downtown in Los Angeles, California and runs until Jan 27. – AFP Relaxnews
