Nearly 17 million smart speakers ship in Q2 of 2018, Google Home stays in top spot

A new report from Canalys confirms that smart speakers are increasingly popular, so much so that worldwide shipments increased by 187% in the second quarter of 2018, as compared to the same period in 2017, with a total of 16.8 million units sold. 

Four brands led the way, making up approximately 87% of all smart speakers sold: Google at 32.3%, Amazon at 24.5%, Alibaba at 17.7% and Xiaomi at 13.2%.
