One of the highlights of the latest version of Android (Oreo) is the Night Light mode, which filters blue light components out of the display in the evening.

This is supposed to protect your eyes and should help you get more restful sleep, because too much light from the blue spectrum before going to bed can have a negative effect on your sleep patterns.

You can choose when you want the feature to be on and tweak its intensity in the settings under "Display/Night Light".

Another nifty new feature of the latest Android version, which is continuously being added to on newer smartphone models, allows you to watch a video in a split-screen mode at the bottom right of the screen while working with other apps.

Under "Apps/Advanced/Special app access/Picture in Picture", you can manage the app permissions for the picture-in-picture feature.

In order to watch a video through the picture-in-picture feature, you'll have to switch to full screen in the video app and then press the home button. — dpa
