How to manage storage on your Mac

Your MacBook's hard drive is full, but what's eating up all your storage space?

You find out just that with the help of the "Manage Storage" helper. Click on the hard drive icon on your desktop, and you'll see a list of all your files and how big they are – and by clicking on the categories you can delete them if necessary.

Users can also use this program to store files to their iCloud, set up a system to automatically empty items in Trash or identify unnecessary files by using the function "Reduce Clutter".

If you can't find the hard drive icon on your desktop, then you can look for it in the menu by clicking on "Finder" and "Settings". In the next window you can then tick the box labelled "Hard Drives" and the icon should appear. You can also manage your storage by clicking the Apple symbol and clicking on "About This Mac", where you can also find the option "Hard Drives". — dpa
