Amazon Prime monthly price hike to generate US$300mil a year

Amazon.com Inc will generate an extra US$300mil (RM1.17bil) annually by increasing the monthly cost of Prime membership by US$2 (RM8), according to Cowen & Co. 

The online retailer announced Jan 19 that it would increase the price of Prime to US$12.99 (RM51) for customers making monthly payments, which totals US$156 (RM612) a year. Prime membership remains US$99 (RM388) for those making one annual payment, sweetening the discount for those making a longer commitment.
