Anime adaptation Dragon Ball FighterZ rises up the charts ahead of its Jan 26 debut, while recent favourites populate the rankings on GOG and Humble where seasonal sales ended Jan 15 and ends Jan 25, respectively.

Arc System Works is better known as creator of iconic fighting game franchises Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.

Now Arc could be set to make Dragon Ball an essential in the competitive fighting game space in addition to its status as a foundational animated series.

Well-received video game adaptations have previously been handled by the likes of Fire Pro Wrestling studio Spike and Street Fighter IV co-developer Dimps.

Now it's time for Arc, which started off making home console editions of late 1980s hits Double Dragon and Rolling Thunder, to see how it does with Dragon Ball Fighter Z.

Fan interest is evidently decent as, ahead of a Jan 26 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, the team-versus fighting game pops up on the GamersGate and Fanatical best-seller charts, pre-orders buoyed by pre-release hype and positive feedback from a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One open beta over the weekend.

Elsewhere, GOG shoppers prioritised The Witcher 3, the Divinity Sin franchise, and a Baldur's Gate II remaster – three essential action-oriented fantasy adventures – as a seasonal site sale drew to a Jan 15 close, while Humble's own promo runs until Jan 25 and has thrown up two Tom Clancy games as well as The Witcher 3, ARK: Survival Evolved, and December's They Are Billions.

As of Jan 14, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been top of the Steam charts for 42 weeks (294 days; 9 months and 3 weeks.)
