Amazon's smart speakers, the Echo and the Echo Dot, promise to make your life easier when coupled with the voice-controlled intelligent assistant Alexa. But they also pose serious data protection risks, a consumer rights centre in Germany warns.
Voice commands given to Alexa via the loudspeaker are stored and processed on Amazon's servers. And it's not just recordings of your voice – your shopping lists, calendar entries and music requests are also being saved by this tech giant.
