Connectivity on the go: Ahmad Fuaad says the plan will appeal to younger generation of consumers who are mobile savvy.

Proton Holdings Bhd and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd have once again teamed up to offer a free smartphone and one-year mobile plan to selected car buyers.

The Proton Yes Altitude Plan, which is offered to buyers of Proton cars of Executive variants and above, comes with a Yes Altitude 4G smartphone and mobile plan with 16GB of data quota per month for 12 months.

The mobile plan also comes with free calls and SMS to other Yes numbers.

“We see it as enhancing customer experience. The Altitude Plan offers high-speed Internet connectivity for all passenger through the mobile hotspot feature,” says Proton chief executive officer, Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali.

He says the offer is valid while stocks last and both rural and urban customers will benefit from it as the Yes network has a nationwide coverage of 85%.

“Mobile Internet is steering the future of driving, and connectivity in cars is becoming a highly desired feature for a more convenient, enjoyable driving experience,” says  YTL Communications CEO, Wing K. Lee.

“More and more drivers today are relying on the Internet for navigation, communication, entertainment and even ride-sharing.”

This is not the first time YTL Communications has collaborated with Proton – in 2011, both companies worked together to launch the Yes 4G Huddle XS mobile hotspot device for Proton cars.

“As Yes is first telco to provide VoLTE,  Proton customers will be among the first to enjoy HD voice call quality and faster call connection,” says Wing.
