Usually there is nothing wrong with buying smartphone USB adapters from third-party manufacturers, but a recent life-threatening incident with an imitation iPhone adapter caused Apple to issue a warning against purchasing fake products.
Among the unsafe counterfeits is an imitation of the white 5W USB power adapter from Apple. These copycat adapters are available for just a few euros on various Internet platforms, but they could be very dangerous due to faulty insulation or other structural defects.
