Atypical Wii U multiplayer Splatoon and narrative-led French export Life is Strange won prestigious accolades at a 2016 Japan Game Awards ceremony dominated by console manufacturer Nintendo. 

Fans voted for genre-busting Wii U title Splatoon above all others in the Games of the Year divisional awards, announced on Sept 15, 2016 during the Tokyo Game Show in Japan.
