Acer has unveiled five new laptops, including the 2-in-1 Aspire Switch Alpha 12 which has a fanless design.
First introduced at Acer’s global product launch in New York, the Switch’s doesn’t require a fan to cool it as it uses the company’s LiquidLoop proprietary liquid cooling technology.
By opting for liquid cooling, the company says the laptop won’t accumulate dust on the inside, and will have better thermal and system performance.
The notebook, which is only 9.5mm thin, is powered by a sixth gen Intel Core processor, and has a high resolution 12in (2,160 x 1,440 pixels) display.
The Switch is expected to last up to eight hours on battery and is bundled with a detachable keyboard and stylus.
A model with 2.3GHz Core i3-6100U chip, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD (solid state drive) goes for RM2,499 while a high-end model with 2.5Ghz Core i7-6500U chip, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD costs (RM4,499).
Meanwhile, the Aspire S13 ultrabook, which weighs 1.3kg, is only 14.58mm thick – the company claims it’s one of the thinnest ultrabooks in the world.
S13 has a 13.3in full HD display, runs on Intel Core i5 processor and offers up to 11 hours of battery life.
It’s available in two configurations – with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD for RM2,799 or 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD for RM3,399.
Next up is the Aspire R15 which is a convertible that also functions as a tablet.
The device has an Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and 1TB hard disk drive.
It has a 15.6in touchscreen and offers up to 9 hours of battery life. The R15 retails at RM2,999.
Acer also launched the Aspire E and F range in three sizes – 14in, 15in and 17in. The price for Aspire E starts from RM1,699 while the Aspire F from RM2,699.
At the launch, it also unveiled the ultra-thin R1 monitor series. The monitor has a tapered design – it’s only 6.6mm thick at the top but thicker at the bottom. The bezel, on the other hand, is only 10mm thick.
It comes in three sizes – 21.5in, 23.8in, 27in – and the price starts from RM479.
