DAP candidate for Teratai, Tiew Way Keng, has been hit by fresh allegations of alleged misuse of public funds in the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) by two different parties.
A group of Jenice Lee supporters gathered yesterday at DAP disciplinary committee chairman Tan Kok Wai’s office in Cheras questioning why Tiew, who is also a councillor in MBPJ, was fielded to contest in Teratai although there were allegations that she had misused funds.
Lee, who is the incumbent assemblyman for Teratai, decided to contest as an independent candidate after being dropped by DAP.
A representative from the group, Lee Simon, stressed that they were only questioning why Tiew was still being fielded as a candidate even though her integrity was in question.
“These documents are from MBPJ and this was even reported in the papers. We are just questioning whether these allegations are true or false.
“We are not saying that she has taken money or committed anything but if these allegations are true, then Tiew should not be fielded to contest in Teratai,” said Simon.
Meanwhile, Teresa Kok’s former assistant Tony Tan has questioned why Yap Kon Min, a friend of his, was being sued for defamation when he had highlighted the matter through official channels.
“My friend, Yap Kon Min, did not approach the media unlike the others. He sent a letter to the Bar Council and the Selangor Mentri Besar’s office to request them to carry out investigations on the matter,” Tan said.
He questioned the DAP for fielding such candidates whose integrity was in question.
